University Hospitals Breaks Ground on New Rainbow Center for Women & Children
University Hospitals representatives and public dignitaries broke ground on the new Rainbow Center for Women & Children on December 21st. The center will house innovative programs for pediatric primary care, women’s health care, and social services, as well as additional programming to support patients, their families and the community. The 40,000 square foot facility will be located at E. 59th Street and Euclid Avenue. Its location on the RTA Health Line and ample on-site parking will make it easily accessible for patients and visitors. Along with the neighboring Link59 office project, the new UH Center will bring increased vibrancy to a long vacant segment of Euclid Avenue and add to the economic vitality of the medical cluster in the Health-Tech Corridor.
HTC Coding Bootcamps Provide Local Companies with Software Development Talent
Two growing coding bootcamps call the Health-Tech Corridor Home: Tech Elevator at 7100 Euclid Ave. and Cleveland Codes at Tri-C. Tech Elevator is a full-time 14-week coding bootcamp where students can choose between Java or .NET tracks. Prospective students can learn more about Tech Elevator at two January open houses and employers will have the opportunity to meet with bootcamp students at weekly showcases. Cleveland Codes is a non-profit coding bootcamp that trains students in .NET over a 16-week period. Cleveland Codes aims to recruit students who are traditionally underrepresented in the software development field. Cleveland Codes is currently looking for internship placements for the spring of 2017. Interested employers can reach out to Seth Pinkney.
HTC Attracting Interest from DevelopersCrain’s Cleveland Business featured an article in December about the growing interest from real estate developers in the Midtown neighborhood. The article highlights the Link59 office project as well a proposed hotel development on a vacant lot at East 70th Street and Euclid Avenue. In addition to office and hotel developments, the Health-Tech Corridor is seeing interest from developers for housing as well. The Innerbelt Lofts at 2828 Euclid Ave are currently under construction and scheduled for completion this year.
